Performs routine, preventative, and general maintenance services that require a general skill in a variety of systems. Perform all tasks with priority and focus on safety of patients, staff, and themselves. Maintains life safety systems and required documentation.
Essential Functions
Performs facility and equipment maintenance in accordance with applicable codes and standards. Documents through use of the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
Basic level of skill to maintain, troubleshoot and repair mechanical equipment such as motors, pumps, conveyors, doors, fans, boilers, heat exchangers, controls, etc. within defined operating procedures and with guidance/assistance.
Basic level of skill to maintain, troubleshoot and repair patient care equipment such as beds, wheelchairs, carts, tables, etc. where not maintained by other departments
Basic level of skill to maintains, troubleshoot and repair mechanical/electrical systems such as pneumatic tube, HVAC, refrigerators/freezers, ice machines, commercial kitchen equipment, electrical, plumbing, piped medical gas systems, specialized water systems etc. within defined operating procedures and with guidance/assistance.
Performs other routine to minimally complex general maintenance functions in the area's grounds maintenance, carpentry, painting, and snow removal.
Respond and make repairs associated with emergencies such as leaks, floods, water outages, fires, power outages, equipment failures, etc. as directed
Respond to building occupant requests in a timely and professional manner. Performs zone maintenance rounding. Keeps requesters apprised of the status of corrective actions and service requests.
Conducts preventive maintenance and performs equipment safety checks.
Inspects and repairs fire doors, hardware, firewalls and smoke partitions.
Reads blueprints and maintenance manuals to gain knowledge needed to complete assignments.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to lift 75 pounds while taking materials to and from sites. Must be mobile within entire facility campus including ability to access roof tops and crawl spaces. When performing diagnosis, maintenance, and repair of assigned equipment, will frequently be required to climb, lift, crawl, squat, and kneel to access jobs. Possible exposure to electrical shock hazards, severe weather conditions, infectious disease, and hazardous chemicals.
Education, Experience and Certifications
High School Diploma or GED required. One year of applicable experience with construction, maintenance, or facilities operations preferred. Vocational training preferred. Healthcare experience preferred. Valid driver's license required.
