The Lead Maintenance Technician is responsible for the upkeep and repair of county buildings, ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable operation of HVAC, grounds, access control, camera systems, safety systems, and various county-owned equipment. This position performs daily building inspections, coordinates repairs, oversees supply and equipment needs, and supervises lower-level maintenance staff.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities
Conduct routine walks of all buildings and grounds to identify any maintenance or safety issues.
Monitor building automation systems for functionality and efficiency.
Ensure public safety and accessibility in all facilities.
Report and document maintenance issues, obtain quotes for repairs, and schedule necessary services.
Schedule and coordinate annual service contracts for critical systems.
Oversee and maintain county vehicles, ensuring their functionality and compliance with safety standards.
Arrange and oversee repairs for building equipment as necessary.
Perform building repairs and improvements to enhance facility function and appearance.
Provide cross-departmental maintenance assistance as required.
Mows lawns, trim weeds, and rakes leaves as assigned.
Plans and directs the work of maintenance staff in the daily upkeep of county buildings and grounds.
Assists in conducting performance reviews of lower-level staff.
Demands and Environment
Indoor/outdoor environment subject to changing conditions and temperatures exceeding 90 degrees
Regular exposures to fumes, dust, dirt, oil/grease, odors, heights, and loud noises
Driving a vehicle to conduct work
Working on ladders at varying height
Working with or around machinery with moving parts
