We are looking for motivated a Maintenance Mechanic to join our team in our Worcester, MA location. The Maintenance Mechanic II is responsible for troubleshooting, Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), installation, and repairs on all facilities, manufacturing and production equipment, drawing on knowledge that includes low voltage electrical, hydraulics, carpentry, fabrication, vacuum systems, machining, welding, plumbing, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration, and/or other mechanical disciplines in order to maintain well-functioning equipment.

Essential Functions Include:

Troubleshoots a variety of mechanical equipment and determines the most appropriate method and parts required to effectively complete the given job.

Utilizes knowledge of the particular intricacies of various types of metals, chemicals, equipment and/or machinery properties and parts for preventative maintenance and repair duties.

May assemble, install and/or repair wiring, pipe systems (i.e., pneumatic, hydraulic, vacuum), furnaces, machinery, and material handling / production equipment.

May assist in the installation, operation, service, and repair of commercial heat/ventilation/air conditioning/refrigeration systems and other associated HVAC equipment.

Disassembles devices to gain access to remove and repair defective parts. Subsequently reassembles equipment,(i.e., production machines, pumps, construction and other facilities equipment and systems) using hand /power tools, drills, welding equipment, wrenches, hoists, cranes, test equipment, gauges, and/or micrometers.

May use standard shop equipment such as lathes, drills, milling machines, grinders, and presses.

Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements, using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments. May use various testing equipment, (i.e., multimeter, various types of gauges, HVAC equipment, flow meters) to troubleshoot machinery.

Repairs or replaces various bearings, oil and mechanical seals, gears, sprockets, chains, sheaves, and belts to exact specifications.

Sets-up blocking and rigging equipment, computer systems or other equipment to start, shut-down, test, service or repair machinery or equipment.

Responsible for the preventative maintenance, installation, and/or repair of equipment through various trade disciplines, the use of computer systems, as well as potential cross-functional responsibility as a Maintenance Machinist.

May operate cutting torches or welding equipment to fabricate, cut or join metal parts.

Perform preventative maintenance and calibration of equipment and systems throughout the facility.

Analyzes, identifies, and corrects mechanical faults of improperly operating, inoperative or the preventative maintenance of machinery through varying trade and/or mechanical processes.

Diagnoses mechanical problems by sound and visual observations and determines how best to resolve the problem by checking blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs and previous experience.

Works with appropriate departments, (i.e., Engineering) to ensure all needed parts are available prior to the dissembling of machines.

Performs mechanical installation, rebuilding, or repair work within given time parameters

May perform monitoring, maintenance and repair on HVAC and refrigeration equipment (i.e., compressors) and systems, pneumatic, low-voltage electric or electronic control systems on HVAC systems.

Tests and runs-off machines to ensure proper operation and correction of the identified problem.

Records maintenance and repair work performed, and the duration of time used per work order. May be responsible for mandated reporting of maintenance and repair to appropriate agencies, (i.e., Environmental Protection Agency).

May work with outside vendors for complex or time intensive repairs or trade shops to fabricate or purchase replacement parts.

Responsible for Lock out/Tag out (LOTO) or the specific practices and procedures to safeguard employees from the unexpected energization or startup of machinery and equipment.

Other related duties assigned

Essential Qualifications:

- A High School Diploma/GED is required, with courses in mechanical drawing, electricity, wood working, blueprint reading, science, mathematics preferred.

- Maintenance Experience in a manufacturing environment for 3+ years is required.

- Journey Papers are preferred.

- Technical Certificate/ Associates Degree in Electrical Construction & Maintenance, or related field is preferred.

Practical/Technical Knowledge:

- Experience with mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems is preferred.

- Must be able to interpret and update blueprints, schematics, machine manuals and drawings.

- Basic welding and fabrication skills are preferred.

- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills are required.

- Proficiency with hand and power tools is required.

- Excellent time management and ability to prioritize tasks is required. Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.

- Strong communication and teamwork skills are required.

- Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) is required. Must have basic computer skills proficient with MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Familiarity with MS Access.

This position is concerned with a variety of areas in our Manufacturing facility and is visible to all employees and the incumbent must interact with a variety of departments through integrity, knowledge, and personal example. Must conduct self in a manner that demonstrates cooperation, leadership, and willingness to assist fellow workers with handling issues as they arise and provide assistance and training as may be necessary from time to time. Must be a team player. Must have good interpersonal skills. Responsible to maintain the Principles of Conduct & Action, Saint-Gobain Attitudes, and Rules of Conduct.

Must satisfactorily complete associated training programs. Ability to learn, and perform all duties required of the position.
