Job Description:

The Facilities Management department is seeking a dedicated and thorough Housekeeper to join our team. The Housekeeper is responsible for ensuring the cleanliness of all residential halls, offices within residential halls, and cultural centers on campus. This is a full-time, bargaining unit position, working 40 hours per week, fiscal year. The typical shift is 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM and includes one weekend day. Occasional evening, holiday, and overtime assignments may be required.

This position reports to the Housekeeping Supervisor and is crucial in maintaining a clean and safe environment for our campus community. Our Facilities Management team is comprised of approximately 140 full-time employees, managing over 2,000,000 square feet of property across 60+ major buildings and more than 300 acres.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform general cleaning tasks in various campus buildings.

  • Sweep, vacuum, and wash floors.

  • Empty waste receptacles.

  • Clean and disinfect bathroom toilets, showers, countertops, mirrors, sinks, and high-touch surfaces.

  • Dust and polish furniture and fixtures.

  • Communicate building and safety concerns, and report the need for repairs or services.

  • Assist with duties related to Commencement, Reunion, Events, and Summer Conferences as assigned.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Ability to adhere to a detailed cleaning program.

  • Willingness to work some weekends and holidays.

  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.

  • A willingness to perform other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions & Physical Demands:

This role involves handling a range of hazardous materials, including cleaning chemicals and supplies. Employees may encounter chemicals and fumes, wet or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, and extreme weather related to heat or cold. The noise level in some work environments can occasionally be loud.

The physical demands of this position include balancing, carrying, pulling/pushing, grasping, repetitive movement, standing, bending, reaching, sitting, twisting, and lifting. The ability to physically perform manual tasks, climb stairs, lift, climb ladders, and bend is required. You must be able to lift 30 pounds unassisted and stoop or stand for prolonged periods of time.
