Nelson's Green Brier Distillery is looking to add a talented and knowledgeable bartender to the team. The ideal candidate is professional, charismatic, a great communicator, and experienced in classic and craft cocktails. Bartenders will greet guests, educate on NGBD's product, interact and make suggestions regarding guests' preferences, and prepare and serve beverages and food. Our bartenders are responsible for serving bar patrons as well as preparing drink orders for the dining room and at times serving tables within the bar area. A successful Bartender at NGBD is a punctual self-starter, has a neat appearance, is engaging and friendly, has an observant, team oriented, efficient work ethic. Responsibilities Interact with customers, take food and drink orders Stay guest focused and nurture an excellent guest experience Comply with all food and beverage regulations for the State of TN Prepare beverages (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) for bar and restaurant patrons Check guests' identification and confirm it meets TN's drinking requirements Restock and replenish bar inventory and supplies before and after each shift Assess customers' needs and preferences and make recommendations Mix ingredients to prepare cocktails to NGBD's specifications Memorize cocktail builds for efficient and timely service Maintains an uncompromised professionalism and composure at all times and all situations. Shares a passion for NGBD products and culture and provides extraordinary guest experiences with effortless suggestions and honest salesmanship. Educates guests on whiskey through detailed knowledge of Nelson's products and distillation process as well as extensive understanding of cocktails. Educates guests in an honest way about the history of NGBD, our whiskey, our love for music and our food. Ensures guest expectations are being met by executing proper sequence of service, moving with purpose, confidence, and speed at all times. Completes set-up, side work, and closing tasks as assigned and/or directed in a timely manner. Works closely with Lead Supervisor to ensure all tasks are being completed thoroughly, correctly, and efficiently during the shift. Values the importance of internal hospitality and the necessary team environment this promotes. Minimum Qualifications 2+ years mixing for a hand-crafted cocktail program One to two years of experience in cocktail creation Food and Alcohol certifications required within 90 days of employment Detail oriented, creative and quality focused Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks and meet deadlines; yet able to work productively as part of a team Able to recite, prepare and differentiate between the basic classic cocktails Must be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed Effective communication skills and ability to maintain composure in high stress environment. Commitment to deliver an outstanding customer service experience Preferred Qualifications General knowledge and enthusiasm for craft distilling and spirits Experience in restaurants, and a desire for upward mobility and cross training Physical Requirements/Work Environment Works outdoors/indoors Works in warm/cold climates Works in high places Works on wet surfaces Is exposed to loud noise, fumes and/or toxic chemicals Works near moving, mechanical parts and lift truck traffic Must be able to move up to 55 lbs Must be at least 21 years of age. Must be able to sit and/or stand for long periods of time and work on a computer for extended periods. Lifting may be required.
