Position Function SUMMARY:
Under the direct supervision of the Chief Financial Officer, the janitor keeps buildings in clean and orderly condition; performs heavy duty cleaning duties, such as cleaning floors, shampooing rugs, washing walls and glass, and removing rubbish. Duties include performing routine cleaning activities, notifying management of need for supplies.
II. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

General Duties & Responsibilities
1. Service, clean, or supply restrooms.
2. Gather and empty trash.
3. Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming.
4. Monitor building security and safety by performing tasks such as locking doors after operating hours or checking electrical appliance use to ensure that hazards are not created.
5. Notify managers concerning the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems.
6. Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
7. Mix water and detergents or acids in containers to prepare cleaning solutions, according to specifications.
8. Clean windows, glass partitions, or mirrors, using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges, or squeegees.
9. Requisition supplies or equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties.
10. Dust furniture, walls, machines, or equipment.
11. Clean and polish furniture and fixtures.
12. Move heavy furniture, equipment, or supplies, either manually or with hand trucks.
13. Strip, seal, finish, and polish floors.
14. Drive vans, industrial trucks, or other vehicles required to travel to, or to perform, cleaning work.
15. Set up, arrange, or remove decorations, tables, chairs, ladders, or scaffolding to prepare facilities for events, such as banquets or meetings.
16. Steam-clean or shampoo carpets.

17. Works collaboratively, cooperatively, and in coordination with fellow team members and with others in the organization, treats them with respect, courtesy, and consideration, and shows understanding and the appropriate support of other team members to help get the job done.
18. Provides information, guidance, and resources to diverse groups of customers, clients, and others outside of the organization; treats them in a friendly manner with professionalism, helpfulness, respect, courtesy and consideration at all times regardless of circumstances.
19. Maintains regular, dependable attendance and punctuality, and physical presence at the assigned worksite; must interact directly with people or objects at the worksite on a regular basis. Communications technology may, for certain tasks and under certain circumstances, enable an employee to effectively perform some of the work-related duties from home on a temporary basis.
20. Complies with all applicable environmental health and safety policies, procedures, and work rules, giving maximum effort to performing job functions in a manner that protects the health and safety of the incumbent, co-workers, and the general public.
21. Performs other duties as assigned and which are deemed necessary or desirable by NAPI.
