Maintenance Mechanic**

**Job Description**

The Maintenance Mechanic ensures the operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on motors, pneumatic systems, conveyor systems, and production machines. This role involves following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications to troubleshoot malfunctions.

**Responsibilities**

+ Troubleshoot, maintain, and perform emergency repairs on various types of industrial machines in the production area.

+ Operate power equipment in accordance with OSHA and company safety standards.

+ Notify maintenance and supervisor of needed machine repairs or areas of maintenance concern.

+ Control downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques and monitoring compliance.

+ Maintain equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock, anticipating needs, placing and expediting orders, and verifying receipt.

+ Monitor, identify, and respond promptly to signs of malfunction in machinery, such as changes in performance, temperature fluctuations, sounds, smells, or atypical energy usage; perform troubleshooting for production machinery.

+ Perform emergency repairs on various types of machinery, including mechanical, electric, and hydraulic; identify and replace worn or damaged parts in a timely manner.

+ Inspect machines regularly for signs of malfunctions, including visual inspections, listening for irregular noises, and conducting scheduled testing as appropriate.

+ Schedule and perform routine preventative maintenance and service for each piece of equipment.

**Essential Skills**

+ High School Diploma or GED

+ 3 or more years of mechanical maintenance experience in an industrial manufacturing environment

+ Demonstrated knowledge of mechanical equipment, troubleshooting & repair, and safe work practices

+ Experience working in a production environment

+ Ability to read building and electrical schematics

+ Excellent skills and techniques in repairing and maintaining industrial/production machines

+ Basic math skills

+ Excellent organizational and decision-making skills

+ Ability to work independently and efficiently in an often fast-paced environment

**Additional Skills & Qualifications**

+ Familiarity with three-phase motors, production conveyors, and troubleshooting

+ Experience with preventative maintenance

+ Knowledge of electrical schematics

+ Proficiency as a maintenance technician

**Work Environment**

This role is based in an industrial laundry facility with loud conveyors running throughout the day. Candidates should be flexible to work either the 1st shift (Monday - Friday, 4am - 12:30pm) or the 2nd shift (Monday - Friday, 2pm - 10:30pm).

This is a Permanent position based out of Beltsville, Maryland.

**Pay and Benefits**

The pay range for this position is $55120.00 - $55120.00/yr.
