JOB OBJECTIVE SUMMARY:

The Custodian is a key associate at Hope Network whose primary responsibilities include:
Custodian I B is responsible for general housekeeping and janitorial needs of the facility as assigned. Cleanliness of the facility is vitally important in order to promote health and safety to our staff. The Custodian I performs cleaning and maintenance functions throughout the day. Work is evaluated through observation while work is in progress and by inspection of completed assignments.

Shift: Monday - Friday 3pm-11pm
Pay: $15.00/hr.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

This is not intended to be an exhaustive listing of job functions. This job description in no way states or implies that these are the only duties to be performed by this employee. The employee is required to follow any other instructions and to perform any other duties as assigned by management.

  1. Regular and predictable attendance is an essential requirement of this position.
  2. Perform routine cleaning of the building as outlined by the supervisor.
  3. Perform routine, semiskilled maintenance tasks including: cleaning and waxing floors, minor repairs, and snow removal when applicable.
  4. Order and maintain an inventory of janitorial supplies and report to the Program Supervisor in a timely manner when supplies are needed.
  5. Complete specific duties as outlined in the Fire and Tornado Safety Program (if applicable).
  6. Assure building security as designated by supervisor.
  7. Report to supervisor any problems in the areas of safety, housekeeping, and facility maintenance.
  8. Cleans facilities by sweeping, dusting, mopping, scrubbing, sealing, buffing, washing rooms, vacuuming, washing surfaces, etc.
  9. Participation in emergency drills and environmental safety activities, as requested.
  10. Additional departmental responsibilities/duties as assigned.

Educational / Talent Requirements:

  1. High school diploma or GED preferred.
  2. Strong organizational, communication, and composition skills and the ability to multi-task.
  3. Ability to be flexible, work independently and meet deadlines.
  4. Willingness to contribute and be part of an effective team.
  5. Knowledge of the English language so as to understand operating instructions for cleaning equipment and materials and safety & accident prevention.

Work Experience Requirements:

  1. Working knowledge of cleaning materials and equipment.
  2. Ability to interact and work with individuals from diverse backgrounds and social economic backgrounds and cultures.
  3. Interact positively with administrators and co-workers.
  4. Ability to communicate information and ideas clearly and effectively in both written and oral formats.
  5. Some experience in general cleaning of building and grounds is preferred.

Performance Requirements:

  1. Demonstrated ability to manage resources, make decisions and exercise good judgment.
  2. Willingness to acquire new skills and participate in continued development through various trainings.
  3. Participation and attendance at departmental staff meetings.
  4. Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with community and agency personnel.
  5. Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality necessary in the performance of the job.
