Job Summary

Summary:

The Food Service Worker performs various essential duties related to the safe assembly, distribution, and service of meals for hospital patients, staff, and visitors. This role supports the hospitals food service operations by ensuring high standards of cleanliness, food safety, and customer satisfaction.

Essential Functions:

Attend departmental meetings, training sessions, and in-services as assigned.

Anticipate customer needs and address any concerns in a timely and courteous manner.

Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of work areas and equipment by HACCP standards.

Demonstrate a positive and professional attitude when interacting with patients, visitors, and team members.

Alert supervisors to any product shortages, discrepancies, or operational concerns.

Support department initiatives to improve food service efficiency and customer satisfaction.

Set up and stock food service stations; assemble and deliver patient meal trays.

Work in various food service areas, including the tray line, cafeteria, and kitchen.

Clean and sanitize equipment, stations, and floors after each meal period.

Operate dish machines, trash compactors, and perform general cleaning duties as needed.

Prepare supplemental food items for patient trays.

Participate in assigned sanitation projects to maintain a hygienic environment.

Assist with training and cross-training of new and current team members.

Education
High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred

- Must be able to read menu items in English (exception is the pot-washer position).
- Must be able to communicate in English (exception is the pot-washer position).
- Must be able to juggle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Work requires ability to push trucks and carts with food and supplies.
