R 2830 Head Custodian Hyannis West Elementary School

JOB GOAL: To maintain the physical school plant and grounds in a condition of operating excellence so that the full educational and community use of them may be made at all times

QUALIFICATIONS :

1. Experience in building cleaning, upkeep and operating procedures.
2. Ability to work cooperatively with staff and general public.
3. Ability to prioritize tasks.
4. Ability to perform outdoor tasks under adverse weather conditions, for example, shoveling snow.
5. Ability to move or lift furniture and cartons of school or custodial supplies at a minimum weight of 50 pounds.
6. Other additions to the above as the School Committee may find appropriate.

REPORTS TO: Supervisor of Buildings, Grounds and Maintenance

SUPERVISES: Foreman, Custodians

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Assists in assignment, scheduling, training, and evaluation of employees under his/her supervisory responsibility.
2. Oversees building security and makes necessary building checks on weekends and holidays. Responds to emergency calls if necessary.
3. Keeps inventory and orders necessary custodial supplies.
4. Oversees boiler and mechanical equipment operations.
5. Maintains records relative to building upkeep and custodial staff payroll.
6. Assigns staff to overtime and special function details.
7. Reports acts of vandalism and needed repairs in a timely manner to proper personnel and follows up on their correction.
8. Performs cleaning and minor maintenance work as staffing and other conditions require.
9. Is courteous at all times to staff, students, and general public.
10. Performs other duties as may be assigned.
