  1. A high school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  2. Kitchen management experience preferred.
  3. Ability to work well with the public and other school personnel.
  4. Knowledge of recordkeeping for the purposes of inventory and financial control.
  5. Human relations skills sufficient to direct other food service employees.
  6. Previous leadership experience in assigning work, training and instruction of employees
  7. Manage and schedule work assignments for 3 or more full-time food service staff
  8. Ability to work in fast paced environment with deadlines
  9. 2-5 years experience in the preparation of school lunches or related retail/food service, food orders, inventory
  10. Demonstrate leadership and team building
  11. Ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively both orally and in writing
  12. Demonstrate excellent customer service skills
  13. Must be able to lift 40 pounds.
  14. Good health, physical stamina, fitness and vitality

REPORT TO: Director of Food and Nutrition Services

JOB GOALS:
To provide leadership required in operation and maintenance of the food service program in the Whitehall City School District. This would include the preparation of food, serving of food, and the managing of all the business aspects of inventory and finance for a specific school building; to be a cooperative co-worker.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Lead the employees in the food service setting to accomplish all the tasks necessary.
  2. Plan for the maintenance and control of inventory of all food items used in the program.
  3. The ability to work with and to train the food service employees in that situation.
  4. The ability to provide leadership necessary for the efficient and quality preparation of all food items.
  5. Meet standards of cleanliness and sanitation for the food preparation area as set by state and local standards.
  6. Direct all school food service personnel to maintain the standard of good personal grooming and cleanliness.
  7. The ability to provide good supervision to those food service employees in his/her charge.
  8. Other duties important to this specific job assignment area as requested by the supervisor.
  9. Keep building administrator informed of all problems in the food service area.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:
  1. Direct the preparation and serving of food in compliance with the menus established by the school district.
  2. Assigning all responsibilities in the kitchen to assure that all food preparation, serving and clean-up activities occur as they should.
  3. Provide the supervision necessary to make certain that the portions and amounts of different types of items being served to students are in compliance with the required menus, and those requirements of the State Department of Education, Division of Food Service.
  4. Follow all money collection and deposit requirements of the Treasurer.
