Your Culinary Journey:
At Mission Hill Family Estate, our culinary program is dedicated to the sourcing and promotion of local, sustainable, seasonal food. Our Cuisine du Terroir approach lends itself to a light-handed manner of preparation that respects the character of the ingredient and where it is sourced. Our varietal and herb gardens are steps away from our kitchens, and we educate and encourage our team members to explore foraging opportunities that lay at our doorstep.
We strive to ensure our team acquires the knowledge and appreciation of the valley and the winery needed to surpass our guests’ expectations. Each team member will have the opportunity to hone their culinary skills and develop professional relationships that will last a lifetime while working with our accomplished and celebrated culinary team.
What You’ll Do:
Bake a variety of artisanal breads and baked goods daily for our restaurant, events, and boutique
Manage fermentation schedules, shaping, scoring, and baking to exacting standards
Maintain and care for our sourdough starter and leavening cultures
Assist with menu development by suggesting seasonal bread and baked offerings
Prepare mise en place for daily production and ensure readiness for service
Collaborate with pastry and culinary teams to align on quality, timing, and innovation
Support the team by taking on general kitchen duties when required
Ensure consistency, cleanliness, and compliance with all food safety standards
What You Have :
- Experience in a similar standard of kitchen
- Be a self-starter, have high standards of your own and be a team player
- Solid Pastry techniques and skills, good knowledge of ingredients and seasonality
- Excellent communication skills
- Positive work ethic and professional attitude
- Current “Food Safe” certification (or equivalent)
- A real desire to work in a fast-paced kitchen that makes everything from scratch
- Quick learner, able to comprehend, incorporate & impart knowledge effectively
- Flexible scheduling - working days, evenings and weekends required
