Position Overview:

The Prep Cook at the Marriott Colorado Springs Hotel is responsible for preparing ingredients and assisting in the kitchen to ensure efficient and high-quality food preparation for banquets, the restaurant, and all kitchen operations. This role is essential in maintaining the smooth operation of the kitchen and supporting the culinary team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare ingredients by washing, peeling, chopping, and slicing vegetables, fruits, and meats.
  • Measure and assemble ingredients for recipes, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
  • Prepare sauces, dressings, and other condiments as needed.
  • Assist in the preparation of large quantities of food for banquets and special events.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the prep area, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Assist line cooks and chefs in assembling and plating dishes during service.
  • Prepare and package food items for storage, ensuring proper labeling and rotation of stock.
  • Ensure all prep work is completed in a timely and efficient manner to meet service deadlines.
  • Assist in the preparation and setup of banquet food items according to event specifications.
  • Work closely with the banquet chef and kitchen team to ensure timely and accurate preparation for events.
  • Maintain high standards of food presentation and quality for all banquet items.
  • Prepare ingredients and components for the restaurant menu items.
  • Ensure readiness for daily service by completing prep tasks and maintaining stock levels.
  • Communicate effectively with the restaurant kitchen team to coordinate preparation and service.
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary work environment, adhering to all food safety and sanitation guidelines.
  • Assist in the cleaning and maintenance of kitchen equipment and utensils.
  • Participate in inventory management by monitoring stock levels and reporting shortages.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the kitchen supervisor or chef.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent; culinary training or certification is a plus.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a kitchen environment, preferably in a hotel or banquet setting.
  • Strong knife skills and proficiency in basic cooking techniques; excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations.
  • Food Handlers Certification (must comply with State requirements).
  • This position will be an AM or a PM shift, 2 shifts per week.

Compensation Range

The compensation for this position is $17.00/Hr. - $17.00/Hr. based on qualifications and experience.
