Performs a variety of unskilled or semi-skilled custodial duties and operates a variety of equipment related to the performance of those custodial duties.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Works under the general supervision of the Parks and Facilities Maintenance Supervisor
SUPERVISION EXERCISED:
May serve as lead worker over seasonal or part-time custodial workers.Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to: Cleans and services restrooms, sweeps, vacuums, mops floors and stairways, empties trash, dusts such items as blinds, furniture, file cabinets, and windowsills, scrubs, strips, sanitizes, waxes, and buffs floors using appropriate manual and power equipment, polishes furniture, metal work, and chrome using appropriate cleaning and polishing compounds at all city facilities.
Maintains an inventory of cleaning and toiletry supplies, loads, and unloads supplies,
operates a city owned vehicle for transportation between city facilities, may perform ground maintenance including removal of snow from sidewalks, salting walkways, mowing areas of grass, trimming shrubs, etc.
Performs required labor involved in all aspects of custodial responsibilities as assigned and may assist other employees of the Parks and Facilities Maintenance division with their duties as necessary.
Performs all duties in strict compliance with appropriate safety and security standards. Ensures all applicable safety and health rules and regulations are followed. Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times and streamline work processes.
Participates in the accomplishment of organizational, departmental and workgroup goals and objectives. Exhibits a high-level service orientation toward customers and maintains productive working relationships.
Performs other duties of a similar nature or level as assigned.

PERIPHERAL DUTIES:

- Graduation from high school or GED equivalent; and
- One (1) year of experience related to custodial services, construction, maintenance or repair; or
- An equivalent combination of education and experience.
Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Some knowledge of equipment, facilities, materials, methods, and procedures used in custodial activities.
- Skill in operation of some of the listed tools and equipment.
- Ability to perform heavy manual tasks for extended periods of time; ability to work safely; ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other departments, and the public; ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions.
- Valid Arizona Drivers License at time of hire.
- Incumbents in this position are frequently required to work varied shifts including evenings, weekends and holidays.
