Applications are being accepted for a Cook at Northwest State Community College. This position prepares food utilizing a grill, fryer, and oven. This position also assists co-workers with the Cafe/Snack Bar/Catering front line (set-up, serving line, side dishes, and condiments).
Normal Weekly Hours: 40 hours per week for 12 months per year. Normal working hours are between the hours of 6 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Monday Friday; hours/days will vary due to operational situations, such as catering, which can include evenings and weekends.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES- Assist with daily and weekly planning and preparation, including creating menus, testing recipes, planning caterings, tracking inventory and ordering of food.
- Prepare food for main and side dishes, including grilling, frying, and baking, chopping, butchering and any type of food preparation required prior to serving.
- Ensure proper food storage, both incoming stock and leftovers.
- Responsible for washing, sanitation, drying, and storing of dishes, pots, pans, food preparation and cooking areas as needed for department efficiency and health and food safety compliance.
- Attend Food Safety Certification Training and implement procedural changes.
- Manage cash registers, process payments and handle cash in an accurate and professional manner.
- Provide assistance with other food service functions as needed.
- Other similar duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Must have three years of cooking experience.
Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to obtain working knowledge of state requirements as outlined in the Ohio Uniform Food Safety Code.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and to stand for several hours at a time.
- Interpersonal skills along with a customer service focus are an important part of this position.
