Description

Do you have an eye for detail? How about a thorough understanding of HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality? If so, we may have the position for you! We are looking for an experienced, organized Custodian of Medical Records to join our caring and compassionate team.

This position is responsible for creating, maintaining, and curating all records produced and kept by the Amani Center. This includes ensuring the completeness of each child's Amani Center medical records along with HIPAA and OARs compliance. The Custodian of Medical Records also provides administrative support to the Direct Services team and manages databases and statistics.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Conducting regular reviews of medical records including file counts to ensure the maintenance and preservation of records.
  • Responding to request for medical records and subpoenas for records in a timely and legally sound manner.
  • Documenting and invoicing records releases as appropriate.
  • Developing and maintaining tracking systems for all legal documents and responses.
  • Assisting when needed with Forensic Assessment Client File Management for active cases including uploading documents to electronic client management system and preparing billing packets.
  • Consolidating client data from multiple locations on the server into the client management system. Collating documents and cross checking for errors and duplication.

This position requires:

  • High school diploma/GED required, higher education preferred. Qualified paralegal education/experience preferred.
  • Excellent organizational, writing, listening and communication skills.
  • Able to follow oral and written instruction.
  • Able to perform work independently and as a part of a team.
  • Computer skills such as word processing and design software (Microsoft Office Suite, cloud-based software, and database applications).
  • Able to maintain a high level of confidentiality required.
  • Strong relationship skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with community partners, volunteers and clients.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Creative and flexible under pressure.

This position is full-time non-exempt, with a pay range of $23-$27 per hour, depending on experience. The work is performed on-site at our office located in St. Helens, Oregon.

The Amani Center is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization serving Columbia County and dedicated to the intervention and evaluation of child abuse. The Center was established for the purposes of developing and operating a community-based center where child victims of abuse, neglect, and/or witnessing violent crime, could receive a child forensic interview, medical evaluation, and support services in a child-friendly setting.

We work collaboratively with law enforcement, medical and mental health providers, and social service agencies through a multidisciplinary team approach. Our agency advocates for social justice while supporting families as they navigate the criminal justice process.
