Laundry Aide - Part-Time - Pioneer Ridge

POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direct supervision of the Supervisor - Environmental Services performs routine and periodic cleaning tasks. Participates in the Housekeeping T.Q.M. Program for Pioneer Ridge.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prioritizes and performs routine and project tasks to ensure a safe, clean, attractive living and working environment.
  • Operates automatic floor scrubbers, high speed floor polishers, wet-dry vacuums and uses ladders.
  • Safely handles waste, chemicals and body fluids in compliance with Infection Control, W.H.I.M.S. and related policies/standards.
  • Maintains current records for section Total Quality Management Program.
  • Maintains supply cupboard, cleans equipment, reports safety defects and hazards and submits weekly supply orders.
  • Attends meetings and educational programs.
  • Performs such other duties as may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Experience:

  • Minimum grade 10 education, together with previous institutional/commercial housekeeping experience; or
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience

Skills/Abilities:

  • Must be highly motivated, work well in a team environment and be able to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to converse and relate to residents, staff and the public in a courteous and tactful manner
  • A genuine interest and understanding of the needs of the frail and elderly is necessary
  • Must be competent within the meaning of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Must be physically fit and able to freely bend, stretch, twist and turn to perform all Housekeeping functions
  • Must provide proof of full COVID-19 vaccination at point of conditional offer
  • Prior to commencing employment, will be required to review and attest/affirm to all Pioneer Ridge Staff Immunization Policies
  • Must be able to read, write and understand English
  • Must have successfully undergone a "two step" tuberculosis skin test within the 12 months prior to employment
  • Must undergo a successful Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC)
  • Prior to commencing employment, must undergo a successful Offence & Professional Misconduct Declaration Process
  • Must successfully complete all mandatory training as required by the Corporation on an annual basis
