A Mahjong Section Lead Host, provide top-notch customer service to players in the Mahjong Gaming area ensuring they have a fun, smooth, and personalized experience.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate daily operations of the host station and front-of-house flow.
  • Train and mentor new hosts and ensure adherence to service standards.
  • Create or coordinate the seating chart and rotations.
  • Handle guest complaints or special requests with diplomacy and professionalism.
  • Communicate with management regarding staffing, issues, or guest feedback.
  • Ensure hosts are following policies and procedures consistently.
  • Support the team during peak times by stepping into hosting duties as needed.
  • May assist with scheduling or shift coverage for the host team.
  • Initiate Mahjong games and ensure players are seated in a timely and organized manner.
  • Coordinate with support staff to maintain efficient service within the Mahjong area.
  • Provide seating instructions and explain Mahjong rules to new or unfamiliar players.
  • Monitor game flow and behavior, ensuring that all play aligns with established rules and etiquette; report any irregularities or disputes to management.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of Mahjong rules and table procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with Title 31 regulations, including appropriate record-keeping, player interactions, and reporting any suspicious financial activity to the appropriate personnel.
  • Greet guests regularly at the tables, offering assistance, building rapport, and creating a welcoming experience.
  • Observe and respond to guest preferences and playing styles, anticipating needs and personalizing interactions when possible.
  • Seat players based on table availability, game flow, and player needs.
  • Keep track of player interest lists and wait times; manage seating rotations efficiently. Assist with closing procedures, including packing Mahjong sets, securing materials, and completing final area checks.
  • Perform additional job-related tasks as needed or directed by his supervisor.
  • Qualifications
    • Fluency in Chinese including Mandarin and Cantonese required to effectively communicate with a diverse guest population.
    • Must be able to pass mandatory screening including a background check, credit, and drug test
    • Must be able to obtain and maintain a current California gambling establishment team member permit, badge or license and a city license.
    • Interacts well with guests and co-workers
    • Available for full time work, open availability to any given shift which will include weekends and evenings.
    • Able to interact with, understand and respond to common complaints and inquiries
    • Basic computer program and keyboarding proficiency.
    • Knowledge in the safe and appropriate use of tools and procedures related to the essential functions of the job

    Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

    Experience: Two to four years in a customer-service position or similar environment or combination of education or experience.

    Physical and Mental Requirements:
    • Required to stand and walk short distances within the course of the day.
    • Regularly required to see, talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
    • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
    • Work environment: Team members may be exposed to noise and areas where smoking is permitted.
