Performs difficult skilled trades work in a variety of asset and facility management assignments, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the moderate supervision of the Operations Division Head and the Asset and Facility Management Director.

We are seeking a skilled HVAC Technician to maintain, and repair heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems in commercial settings. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills, a good understanding of HVAC systems, and the ability to troubleshoot and solve problems efficiently.

  • Troubleshoots and repairs electrical, electronic, refrigeration and air conditioning malfunctions; installs, services and repairs heating and air conditioning equipment.
  • Perform routine maintenance and diagnostics to ensure optimal system performance
  • Troubleshoot malfunctions and determine necessary repairs or replacements
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical manuals and wiring diagrams.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and local codes
  • Purchases and delivers building materials.
  • Performs assigned functions as a Disaster Ready Team (DRT) member, if appointed or volunteer.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Thorough knowledge and skills for maintenance, repair and manual tasks of the area assigned; thorough knowledge of the use of common hand and specialized power tools required in the work; thorough knowledge of the safe use and operation and preventive maintenance of electrical, mechanical and plumbing equipment required in the work; skill in the use of equipment to which assigned; skilled in electrical, mechanical and plumbing repair and maintenance; ability to perform manual labor for extended periods; ability to follow instructions; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates.

Physical Requirements

This work requires the regular exertion of up to 25 pounds of force, frequent exertion of up to 50 pounds of force and occasional exertion of up to 100 pounds of force; work regularly requires standing, walking, speaking or hearing, using hands to finger, handle or feel, reaching with hands and arms, pushing or pulling, lifting and repetitive motions, frequently requires climbing or balancing and stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling and occasionally requires sitting; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word and conveying detailed or important instructions to others accurately, loudly or quickly; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels and to receive detailed information through oral communications and/or to make fine distinctions in sound; work requires visual inspection involving small defects and/or small parts, using of measuring devices, assembly or fabrication of parts within arms length, operating machines, operating motor vehicles or equipment and observing general surroundings and activities; work regularly requires working near moving mechanical parts, frequently requires exposure to fumes or airborne particles, exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals, exposure to the risk of electrical shock and exposure to vibration and occasionally requires wet, humid conditions (non-weather), working in high, precarious places, exposure to outdoor weather conditions, exposure to extreme cold (non-weather) and exposure to extreme heat (non-weather); work is generally in a loud noise location (e.g. grounds maintenance, heavy traffic).High school diploma or GED with coursework in technical training in the electrical, mechanical, or plumbing trades, or related field and extensive experience as a skilled worker in the maintenance, repair, and/or construction activity to which assigned, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Five (5) years minimum of experience as an HVAC technician or similar role and prefer One (1) year experience with chillers and gas boilers

Special Requirements

Must obtain an EPA certification or required to obtain within 6 months of hire date

Valid driver's license.
