QUALIFICATIONS: Ability to maintain a custodial schedule of work without continual supervision. Familiarity with common hand tools and custodial equipment. Ability to perform reasonably heavy physical labor. Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions. JOB DESCRIPTIONS: The custodian shall be directly responsible to the school Principal. The custodians duties shall include but not be limited to the following: DAILY DUTIES:

• Empties waste baskets/recycle.
• Cleans whiteboards, sinks, and mirrors.
• Sweeps or vacuums classrooms/sweeps sand in kindergarten yard.
• Cleans toilets, wash basins, and urinals
• Empties garbage and outside trash cans.
• Check and cleans catch basins and other facilities for drainage (October-March).
• Set up/take down equipment for lunch.

WEEKLY DUTIES:

• Dusts horizontal surfaces within reach.
• Washes window (0-8 feet high).

ANNUAL DUTIES:

• Washes windows over 8 feet high
• Cleans light fixtures.
• Mops, polishes, and waxes floors during vacation times.
• Washes all interior woodwork (walls, cabinets, tables, desks, and doors etc.)

AS NEEDED/AS REQUESTED:

• Sweeps corridors/Principals patio.
• Checks and fills paper dispensers.
• Vacuums rugs in non-instructional areas.
• Washes walls and woodwork.
• Performs minor maintenance tasks such as lifting tables, screws in dispensers.
• Mops, polishes and waxes floors in an emergency or on Principal's request
• Set up for district-wide Programs. Set up and take down of chairs, tables, or public address (PA) system.
• Replaces tubes and light bulbs.
• Reports unsafe conditions, uncompleted work and building problems to the Principal and/or the Director of Maintenance.
• Removes writing and defacements from all buildings and equipment.
• Submits custodial supplies orders to the Director of Maintenance.
• Checks and cleans gutters and downspouts
• Checks, cleans or replaces filters.
• Maintain/clean drinking fountains.

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: Twelve months, July 1 to June 30, 8 hours a day, excludes lunch.
