POSITION: CUSTODIAN JOB DESCRIPTION:

Cleans and maintains the physical plant and grounds in a safe and efficient manner.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Knowledge of modern cleaning methods and use, care and safety of cleaning materials and equipment.
• Knowledge of requirements for maintaining school buildings and grounds in a safe, clean, and orderly condition.
• Knowledge of the operation of a heating plant and equipment.
• Ability to use cleaning materials and equipment with skill, efficiency, and safety. Ability to understand and carry out oral and written directions.
• Ability to perform heavy physical labor.
• Ability to make minor repairs and adjustments to building fixtures and equipment.
• Ability to keep and maintain confidentiality regarding students, staff, and district issues.
• Ability to effectively communicate with students, staff, parents, and the community.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Maintains an inventory and recommends the purchase of suitable supplies in accordance with the budget.
• Keeps buildings and grounds neat and clean at all times.
• Regulates heat and ventilation systems.
• Shovels, plows, and/or sands walks and steps as needed.
• On a daily basis, 'sweeps classrooms, dusts furniture and fixtures, cleans/disinfects toilets and restore floors. raises and lower the flags before/after school, and locks all doors at the end of the work day.
• Performs periodic cleaning and maintenance as required.
• Keeps grounds free of trash.
• Performs such yard work as grass cutting tree trimming, irrigation and week spraying to maintain the school
