Role:

Repair & Maintenance Engineering focuses on planning, designing and implementing maintenance programs to optimize the availability and productivity of manufacturing facilities and equipment including: Planning and coordinating maintenance engineering work including review of mechanical and electrical engineering specifications. Performing engineering review of proposed new equipment designs to assess reliability, ease of maintenance, and availability of replacement parts. Liaising with production staff to coordinate repair work, statutory safety inspections and supply of new plant and equipment with production schedules. Participating in the installation and commissioning of new equipment.

Responsibility:
Equipment Reliability & Maintenance Execution
Focuses on hands-on maintenance, troubleshooting, and ensuring equipment uptime.
Provide precision maintenance support for chemical manufacturing equipment
Support immediate production reliability events as they arise
Originate and develop analysis to rapidly repair equipment
Acquire failure data and prepare maintenance plans for restoring equipment
Gather and examine maintainability data to develop repair techniques and procedures
Prepare general diagrams, charts, drawings, and spare parts requirements for Maintenance Planners
Perform detailed maintainability studies and calculations of complexity/system downtime
Initiate elemental engineering studies into equipment/process repair time

Continuous Improvement
Involves data analysis, root cause investigation, and long-term reliability strategies.
Develop and implement reliability improvement activities
Analyze equipment performance data to identify trends and areas for improvement
Lead root cause analysis for equipment failures and recommend corrective actions
Drive reduction in mean time to repair for critical equipment failures
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives
Perform and support asset criticality assessments
Develop and maintain asset management strategies
Identify tools and methodology for preventative and predictive maintenance
Determine cost advantages of alternatives and develop action plans

Safety, Compliance & Documentation
Emphasizes safety culture, regulatory compliance, and accurate record-keeping.
Advocate for and promote a zero-incident mindset
Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance activities
Ensure compliance with company and industry standards

Collaboration, Training & Planning
Covers teamwork, mentoring, and planning responsibilities.
Collaborate closely with operations and execution teams
Mentor and train maintenance team on best practices and technical skills
Review and update training documentation
Support daily and weekly priority-based scheduling
Own spare parts strategy to optimize tradeoffs between inventory and reliability

Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering required
2+ years of relevant experience in a manufacturing environment required; 5+ years highly preferred.
Strong knowledge of rotating equipment, including pumps, compressors and turbines
Familiarity with reliability-centered maintenance principles and practices
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze complex technical issues
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
Commitment to fostering a zero-incident mindset and promoting safety in all maintenance activities
Proficient in using maintenance management systems and engineering software
