The Barista maintains operations at the Coffee Shop while maintaining a positive environment, which provides fast, efficient, and friendly service ensuring a quality experience for both our customers and team members. The Barista is responsible for customer service, product knowledge and education, and encouraging safe work practices.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities
- Prepares and presents food & beverages according to established recipe and presentation standards.
- Provides service to the customers in a positive, friendly, helpful manner.
- Runs a register, other devices and Credit Card Machine accurately, following all cash handling procedures.
- Ensures accurate accounting of all transactions, collections and disbursements during work shift.
- Follows current trends in the coffee business and makes operations suggestions.
- Assists in menu development.
- Assists with special events as assigned.
- Assists with product management; including ordering and inventory of stock.
Physical Demands/Work Environment
The position involves physical work in a commercial kitchen environment. Responsibilities include moving inventory, product, carts, tables, etc. as well as using kitchen utensils and commercial kitchen equipment. Must be able to lift 25 pounds. Environment may include hot, humid, or cold temperatures. Must be able to work overtime, evenings and special events as needed.

Education – Skills – Expectations:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- One year of retail or six months of specialty coffee experience.
- Basic computer knowledge.
Must possess a positive, can-do attitude, be detail oriented, with a love and a passion for food. Must work with others in a cooperative manner, even while working under pressure. Willing to engage actively in the physical work of a high-quality food service operation. Expected to adhere to Employee Handbook policies and procedures.
