Local bidders (CSC employees) will be considered first and must file their bid requests for this position by the Final Filing Date stated on the form with State Human Resources (SHR), using the Post and Bid Request form, SHR 207 (Rev 05/2024). The employee with the greatest amount of continuous local work location seniority in the class shall be selected over other employees and notified of start date. If there are no local bidders, then the selection criteria above in Who May Apply will be utilized.
The Post and Bid Request form, SHR 207 is combined with the duty statement.

The California Science Center seeks a Building Maintenance Worker to support the Building and Maintenance Unit. This is an exciting opportunity to join our team at the California Science Center (CSC), a world-class science museum, that develops and features award-winning exhibits and internationally renowned education programs. The Science Center's workforce includes executive, managerial, supervisory, and administrative classifications, however, rank and file facility maintenance and skilled trades represent approximately fifty-one percent (51%) of its civil service workforce.

Under the supervision of the Supervisor of Building Trades, the Building Maintenance Worker independently performs a wide variety of semiskilled manual tasks in the alteration, maintenance, and repair of buildings, related facilities, and equipment. Independently performs a wide variety of miscellaneous maintenance tasks or assignments as a helper to a skilled craftsperson in a trade's class. May be assigned work or supervised by various section leads.
