USD 323 Rock Creek has openings for food service personnel for the 2025-26 school year.
USD 323 provides single paid health insurance to full-time employees as well as optional dental insurance.
TITLE: Food Service Technical Assistant - Cook or Baker
QUALIFICATIONS: Must work toward certification by the American School Food Service Association. Must possess high school diploma or GED. Can read and comprehend recipes. Must be able to pass required physical exam. Must be able to lift 25-35 pounds on a regular basis and lift 50 pounds on occasion .
REPORTS TO: Kitchen Manager
JOB GOAL: To provide each school child with food of high nutritious quality in an atmosphere of cleanliness, cheerfulness and personal caring.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Preparation, Serving and Clean-Up
- Recognizes and treats the student as a priority customer.
- Participates in the preparation and serving of all food in the assigned kitchen according to planned menus and standardized recipes.
- Prepares, stores and serves food at proper temperatures.
- Follows established food safety and sanitation procedures.
- Reports any equipment needing repair or replacement to Kitchen Manager.
- Tastes all finished products prior to serving to ensure the food is of high quality with good flavor and appearance.
- Reports immediately to Kitchen Manager any problem or accident occurring in the kitchen or cafeteria.
- Participates in the daily cleaning of kitchen, serving, storage and dining areas including kitchen equipment, washing and sterilizing of all dishes, flatware and utensils.
- Prepares serving line and supplies the line during service periods.
- Participates in major cleaning of refrigerators and other equipment at regularly scheduled intervals as needed or as designated by Director.
- Holds and disposes of trash and garbage in a safe and orderly manner.
- Participates, as requested, in special meal functions, provides meeting refreshments, and fills special meal requests for student functions made by faculty and staff, as appropriate.
- Confers with Kitchen Manager or Director regarding any personnel problems.
- Maintains a positive attitude.
Receiving and Storage
- Stores and disposes of unused food after meals as designated by Kitchen Manager.
- Stores food items as they are delivered into the food service area.
- Assists with maintaining kitchen and storage areas that are well organized.
Continuing Education and Training
- Participates in regularly scheduled staff meetings.
- Participates in training opportunities.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and number of contract days to be established by the Board.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Support Services Personnel.
