JOB SUMMARY
The WXYZ Barback is responsible making a memorable experience for every guest by bringing a warm, welcoming attitude daily. A WXYZ Barback must be a team player and be willing to help in multiple aspects of the food and beverage realm of aloft Chicago Mag Mile.
QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
Education & Experience:
High School diploma or equivalent and/or experience in a hotel or a related field preferred.
Basset Certification
ServSafe Certification
Allergen Awareness Certification
Physical requirements:
Long hours sometimes required.
Medium work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
Ability to stand during entire shift.
Mental requirements
Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly.
Must be able to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately.
Must work well in stressful, high pressure situations.
Must be effective in handling problems in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving problems, as necessary.
Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying the issues raised by co-workers and guests.
Must be able to work with and understand financial information and data, and basic arithmetic functions.
Must maintain composure and objectivity under pressure.
DUTIES & FUNCTIONS
Essential:
Approach all encounters with guests and employees in a friendly, service-oriented manner.
Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Aloft Mag Mile standards, as required by scheduling which will vary according to the needs of the hotel.
Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which include wearing the proper uniform and name tag when working (per brand standards)
Always comply with Aloft Mag Mile standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.
Comply with certification requirements as applicable to position to include Alcohol Awareness, Food Handlers, Safety, etc.
Perform opening and closing side work according to Aloft Mag Mile standards to ensure that guests are served promptly and efficiently.
Prepare beverages and food according to the companys portion control and presentation standards.
Serve guests with all food and beverage requirements in a warm, friendly, courteous, and professional manner.
Ensure that the lounge is kept clean and tidy.
Follow check ringing procedures precisely.
Be familiar with the operation of the P.O.S. system.
Follow all state liquor laws.
Assist with maintaining beverage and food cost.
Follow prescribed procedures in serving liquor with care to avoid problems with intoxicated guests.
Marginal:
Be familiar with the organization of Aloft Mag Mile Hotels and know the function of each department.
Attend meetings as required by management.
Always maintain a warm and friendly demeanor.
Perform any other duties as requested by management.
