Sous Chef

North Yarmouth Academy is seeking a positive, engaged, and passionate sous chef to join our dynamic dining services team. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic about nourishing young minds and bodies through high-quality meals and is committed to creating a welcoming and efficient dining experience for our students, faculty, and staff. This position reports to the Dining Services Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support the executive chef in daily kitchen operations and meal preparation.
• Ensure smooth and timely service during all meal periods, including special events.
• Assist in training and mentoring kitchen staff to uphold food safety and quality standards.
• Receive and inspect food deliveries, ensuring proper storage and inventory rotation.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant kitchen environment.
• Collaborate with the team to accommodate dietary restrictions and food allergies.
• Uphold a culture of accountability, reliability, and teamwork.
• Other duties as determined by the executive chef

Qualifications:

• Minimum two years of experience as a sous chef or in a similar leadership culinary role (preferred).
• Manager-level Food Handlers Certification (required).
• School dining experience and allergen certification (preferred but not required).
• Ability to lift up to 40lbs and stand for extended periods of time.
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative spirit.
• Passion for feeding children and contributing to a positive school community.

Schedule:

• Wednesday through Sunday (evenings and weekends required).
