We are hiring a Junior Chef for our growing team. The position of Junior Chef will be responsible for providing support and reinforcing leadership to kitchen staff and interns throughout food service. This position will assist both the Executive and Sous Chefs in food preparation, creating cuisine of the highest quality, presentation and flavor.

Key Responsibilities:

  • The ability to direct food preparation and culinary activities with Executive Chef's approval.
  • Modifying menus or creating new ones that meet all quality standards under the umbrella of ARC.
  • Estimating food requirements, labor and waste costs.
  • Assist in the supervision of kitchen staff's activities as needed.
  • Arrange for equipment purchases and repairs.
  • Ability to rectify arising problems or complaints.
  • Give prepared plates the "final touch" with the Executive Chef's approval.
  • Perform administrative duties as directed by management.
  • Comply with nutrition, sanitation and safety regulations/standards.
  • Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers, customers and interns.
  • Bring policy/personnel issues to supervision as they arise.
  • Maintain a valid driver's license.
  • Protect the privacy of all staff and persons served/client information in accordance with Addiction Recovery Care/Odyssey Inc's privacy policies, procedures and practices, as required by federal and state law, and in accordance with general principles of professionalism as a healthcare provider. Failure to comply with Addiction Recovery Care/Odyssey Inc's policies and procedures on persons served/client privacy may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment.

Key Experience and Education Needed:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 2 to 5 years kitchen/food handling experience
  • SERV Safe certification and experience with local sanitation regulations.
  • Capable of delegating multiple tasks.
  • Communication and leadership skills.
  • Keep up with cooking trends and best practices.
  • Working knowledge of various computer software programs (MS Office, restaurant management software, POS)
  • Excellent communication skills to facilitate routine and accelerated work requests with external contacts and manage internal expectations.
  • Immense personal initiative is required to anticipate requests before they are received
  • A positive and professional team player harnessing an attitude that works well under pressure, remains flexible and is responsible. Attention to detail, strong work ethic and initiative are key.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel), Google Suite, and online communications tools (WordPress, Twitter, Facebook, linkedIn, YouTube, etc.)
  • Attention to detail and organization a must.
  • Ability to prioritize work and work-related responsibilities.
  • Ability to coordinate and manage multiple tasks with attention to detail.
  • Knowledge and competency in problem solving, stress management, professional ethics and team building.
  • Flexibility to adapt to schedule changes and assumption of responsibilities not delineated in the job description which are related to work being completed.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle crisis situations in a calm and supportive manner.
  • Ability to exhibit professional and courteous behavior, consistent with the ARC mission statement, when interacting with persons of varying backgrounds and education levels to create a safe and healthy relationship with clients served.
