Food Service Cook

The Milton Town School District is seeking a full-time Cook for the Child Nutrition Program for our Elementary and Middle Schools. Qualifications: High School diploma. Must be organized, have good communication and interpersonal skills, and demonstrate the ability to work effectively with people. Experience with large-scale cooking is preferred. Job Summary: Serve as a cook in a kitchen that prepares 1000 meals per day. Responsible for learning pre-approved recipes that meet state compliance, while contributing to the development of new recipes. Under the direction of the School Nutrition Manager, the cook will also monitor food production output to eliminate waste and control costs. Maintains, cleans, and sanitizes food service areas and equipment. Participates in training and professional development. Hours are 8 hours per day (6:30 am to 2:30 pm or 7 am - 3 pm), five days a week, during the school year only. The contract is for 179 days with school vacations off. There is an additional option for limited summer work, which is outlined in a separate agreement. Pay ranges from $19.77 to $21.27, with the possibility of higher rates based on years of experience, education level, and degree, and comes with full benefits.

Job Requirements
Bachelors Degree, vocational training, or equivalent in culinary arts. Current certification and licensing as required by federal, state, and local agencies.Current ServSafe certificate.Three (3) years of experience preparing food on a large-scale basis
