Food Service Worker (late night shift, part-time)

Located in Brunswick, Maine, Bowdoin College boasts a student population of almost 2000. Our Dining Services Department makes everything from scratch and are consistently rated in the top 10 for college dining! We have our own butcher shop, bakeshop, and organic garden that all supply food to our two dining halls and three retail locations.Under supervision of dining supervisors and regular staff, we are seeking a part-time, entry-level Food Service Worker/Dining Assistant to support our SuperSnack operation at Thorne Dining Hall. SuperSnack is a highly popular, late-night dining service for students.Responsibilities include:Assisting with ingredient preparation for use in recipes for both hot and cold food production, being mindful of cross contamination of foodsAssisting with servery set-up, service, and replenishmentFollowing appropriate food handling and storage procedures; Serve food while adhering to portion control and serving proceduresAssisting in dishwashing tasks including scraping dirty dishes, loading and unloading pot and dish machine, and stacking clean dishwareAssisting in sanitation duties including cleaning preparation station and hot line, holding and dispensing equipment, sweeping and mopping kitchen, dining room and service areas, cleaning employee restrooms, wiping walls, tables and chairs, and cleaning all kitchen cooking equipment, refrigerated, frozen and dry storage area, as well as dock areaAssisting in daily operations and monitoring the dining hall's checking systemsAssisting in stocking the gluten-free area and organizing the stocking inventory following FICO standardsGreeting and assisting dining service patronsVerifying student identification/board eligibility for specific meals and verifying meal countsProviding coverage for the front and back of the house, filling in as needed

Compensation:

The hourly rate for this position is $18.40 per hour10% Shift Differential for hours worked from 3:00 pm to 11:00 pm15% Shift Differential for hours worked from 11:00 pm to 2:00 amSupersnack Premium of an additional $4.00 per hour for hours worked from 10:00 pm to 2:00 amWeekend Differential of an additional $1.00 per hour for hours worked on Saturday and Sunday

Education/Skills Requirements

Experience Requirements and/or Equivalents

Entry level position, no prior work experience requiredAt least one year of experience in food production and/or ingredient preparation techniques and intermediate knife skills (i.e. chopping, dicing, slicing) highly preferred
