Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Learn and follow food service routines within a short period.
Set up meal trays and strip down returned trays.
Operate the dishwasher; observe and record water and chlorine temperatures.
Wash dishes and maintain clean dish areas.
Assist in preparing and serving meals and snacks.
Prepare nourishments and assist with grocery storage in a safe and organized manner.
Maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen, including surfaces, refrigerators, and floors.
Sweep, mop, and take out trash and garbage as needed.
Work cooperatively with cooks and dietary supervisors.
Participate in orientation and ongoing training of dietary staff.
Adhere to food safety and sanitation standards at all times.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position does not include any supervisory duties.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Previous dietary or food service experience preferred but not required.
Certificates and Licenses:
- Must obtain and maintain a valid food handler's certificate.
Language Skills:
Ability to read and understand technical procedures and recipes.
Able to follow written and oral instructions.
Capable of effectively communicating with supervisors and co-workers.
Mathematical Skills:
- Ability to apply basic math, including fractions, ratios, and percentages, in daily tasks.
Reasoning Ability:
- Ability to solve practical problems and interpret instructions in various formats (written, oral, diagrams, schedules).
Physical Demands
Frequently required to stand, walk, push, pull, reach, talk, hear, taste, and smell.
Occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
Work is performed in a kitchen setting.
Exposure to varying temperatures and moderate noise levels.
