The Second Shift Cook is responsible for preparing and cooking a wide variety of food for daily sales to employees during the second shift. This role requires flexibility in handling various tasks and working independently during the second shift. The cook ensures that all food meets the quality standards set by the cafeteria supervisor and adheres to all safety and sanitation guidelines.

The First Shift is 3:30 a.m.- 12:00 p.m

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and cook food daily for the second shift.
  • Clean, wash, and dry pots, pans, utensils, and related items used in food preparation. Store these items in designated locations. Clean the equipment and general work area after completing daily processes. Maintain a neat and orderly kitchen.
  • Store perishable food items in a walk-in refrigerator and freezer.
  • Perform general cleaning functions associated with serving lines. This involves washing serving counters and steam tables regularly, cleaning the glass on sneeze guards, washing tray rails regularly, disassembling refrigerator brackets for cleaning walls, shelves, pans, and related items periodically, and spot-washing wall surfaces in the general area of the serving line.
  • Operate dishwashing equipment to clean and rinse dishware and utensils.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations in the kitchen and dining areas.
  • As directed, perform associated activities requiring comparable skills to those activities normally assigned. This may include working in manufacturing departments as directed, part of the workday.
  • Must be able to interact with employees professionally at all times.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Basic math skills.
  • Good vision is essential for assisting with food preparation.
  • Ability to stand for 8 hours.
  • Ability to lift to 40 pounds.
  • Ability to work in temperatures up to 95 degrees.
  • 1-3 years of experience in cafeteria services.
  • Basic verbal communication skills are required to convey and interpret explanations of problems and to receive and understand work assignments.
  • Good motor skills (hand/eye coordination) are necessary to operate cafeteria equipment efficiently.

EQUIPMENT (Machines, devices, tools, personal protective equipment, etc., used on this job): All equipment and facilities associated with the Cafeteria operation.
