Job Brief
Estiatorio Plaka is seeking a passionate and experienced Sous Chef to join our culinary leadership team in Baltimore, MD. In this role, you ll work alongside our Executive Chef to uphold high culinary standards, manage daily kitchen operations, and ensure the authentic execution of traditional Greek and Mediterranean cuisine.
This is a hands-on, leadership-focused opportunity to grow your career in a dynamic, supportive, and quality-driven kitchen.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and oversee high-quality Greek and Mediterranean dishes such as souvlaki, moussaka, grilled octopus, spanakopita, and baklava
Supervise and train kitchen staff, ensuring consistency in food prep, flavor, and plating
Maintain high standards for cleanliness and food safety (HACCP or ServSafe)
Lead service execution and manage prep and cooking stations efficiently
Assist in inventory control, ordering, food cost management, and waste reduction
Collaborate on seasonal specials, off-site catering, and event menus
Support a team-oriented kitchen culture based on respect and continuous improvement
Qualifications
2+ years experience as a Sous Chef or senior line cook
Mediterranean or Greek cuisine experience strongly preferred
Deep understanding of kitchen operations, food safety, and prep systems
Effective leadership andmunication skills
Culinary degree or equivalent professional kitchen experience
Passion for fresh ingredients, Mediterranean flavors, and hospitality
