Position Summary

Ice Crew Members will perform general labor duties as assigned. Duties included but not limited to ice maintenance and repair. Preparing the ice for professional hockey games and various touring ice shows.

This role pays an hourly rate of $15.69-$20.00.

About the Venue

The Greensboro Complex is a versatile multi-building facility that serves the community of Greensboro and its surrounding areas. It hosts a wide array of events, such as athletic competitions, cultural arts showcases, concerts, theater performances, educational activities, fairs, exhibits, as well as public and private gatherings, including conventions, convocations, trade shows, and consumer shows. It plays a crucial role as a hub of community activities and significantly contributes to the regional economy. The Complex is made up of nine venues, the largest being the renowned 22,000-seat First Horizon Coliseum, which has a storied history of hosting prestigious ACC and NCAA basketball championships, and a concert history featuring legendary artists like Paul McCartney, Garth Brooks, and Elvis Presley, as well as todays biggest artists like Drake, Bad Bunny, and Taylor Swift. The Complex also includes the 167,000-square foot Special Events Center, encompassing three exhibition halls, a 4,500-seat mini-arena, and eight meeting rooms. Additionally, there's the White Oak Amphitheatre, Piedmont Hall, the Novant Health Fieldhouse, Greensboro Aquatic Center, The Terrace, ACC Hall of Champions, and the 300-seat Odeon Theatre. As one of the most actively booked facilities in the country, the Greensboro Complex annually hosts over 1,100 events. Its extraordinary flexibility and reputation have earned it worldwide acclaim among promoters, producers, event planners, and patrons alike.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in the preparation of ice with driver prior to the game or practice.
  • Drill holes and set nets on ice prior to game or practice and during intermissions.
  • Shovel snow during and after periods on and off the ice.
  • Set up rugs and rubber runners for anthem singers and special promotions on and off the ice.
  • Assist other staff with making repairs and adjustments to boards and glass.
  • Always deliver a high level of service to both internal and external customers.
  • Always maintain open communication with Supervisor.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of all information and issues worked with.
  • Always maintain professional attitude and appearance.
  • Perform other related duties and tasks as assigned.
  • May assist in various project work as necessary.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Ability to read and write and to follow written and oral instructions in English.
  • Job reliability, diligence, dedication, and attention to detail a must.
  • General knowledge of the game of ice hockey and its terms, preferred.
  • Ability to lift to 75 pounds, capable of occasionally performing heavy manual labor.
  • Familiarity with the game of hockey and its terminology preferred.
  • Prior ice rink maintenance experience preferred.
  • Ability to problem solve and think/act quickly when issues arrive.
