Porter
STATUS: Non-Exempt, hourly, full-time, 30 hours or more per week
REPORTS TO: Housekeeping Supervisor
GENERAL SUMMARY :
The Porter is responsible for major floor care projects and trash disposal. All job duties are to be performed in accordance with established standards as described in the Quality Assurance Manual for the department.
Primary Job Duties :
Maintains floors and carpets within the Community.
Picks up and removes major trash from the Community.
Maintains all equipment and supplies in proper condition.
Secondary Job Duties :
Performs specific work duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
Responds quickly and positively to direction from supervisor.
Attends in-service training and education sessions, as assigned.
Attends meetings and serves on committees as assigned.
Can be relied upon to be at work on time and to complete duties in a thorough and timely manner.
Follows established time clock procedures as per department guidelines. Does not incur unauthorized overtime.

QUALIFICATIONS :
Previous floor maintenance experience preferred but not required.
Ability to understand and follow instructions in English and communicate effectively.
Wears appropriate non-slip footwear.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS :
Moderate to heavy physical effort 95% of the work day. Must be able to stand and walk long distances up to 8 hours per day. Must be able to stoop and work from a kneeling position, perform repetitive bending, reaching and stretching. Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 lbs. independently. Must be able to push and/or pull wheeled carts and equipment weighing up to 100 lbs. over tiled and carpeted surfaces over long distances. Must be able to operate a vacuum, work in confined spaces around furniture and breakable objects, and have constant contact with residents. May be exposed to communicable diseases including influenza, HIV and Hepatitis. May be exposed to unpleasant odors, high heat levels, and institutional cleaning chemicals.
Pay Range: $16.00 - $16.50
