Job Details About Holbox:Holbox is a Michelin-starred fast-casual restaurant located in South LAs Mercado La Paloma. We specialize in Regional Mexican Seafood , serving our community with integrity, hospitality, and world-class cuisine in a vibrant, casual setting.
Position Overview:At Holbox, the Host plays a critical role in setting the tone for each guest's experience. This is not a typical host positionwe do not take reservations, and lines often reach 100 guests or more. The host is responsible for managing and servicing our wait line, ensuring that every guest feels welcomed, informed, and cared for throughout their time with us.
Key Responsibilities:- Line Management & Guest Experience:
- Organize and monitor the wait line, ensuring it flows efficiently and calmly.
- Communicate estimated wait times with transparency and warmth.
- Answer guest questions about the menu, including dietary restrictions and allergies.
- Provide complimentary water service to guests waiting in line.
- Set up and break down stanchions daily to organize guest flow.
- Tasting Menu Service (Wednesdays & Thursdays):
- Assist with guest arrival and seating for our ticketed Chefs Tasting Menu at 6pm and 8pm.
- Welcome tasting menu guests, confirm their booking, and guide them to the designated seating area.
- Guest Area Upkeep:
- Maintain a clean and beautiful entryway and guest walkway.
- Remove any debris and ensure the line area remains presentable throughout the shift.
- Friendly, approachable, and able to remain calm under pressure
- Strong communicator with a guest-first mindset
- Detail-oriented, organized, and proactive
- Able to multitask and manage large crowds gracefully
- Interested in food and hospitality, with basic menu knowledge or willingness to learn
- Previous host or guest service experience preferred but not required
- Ability to stand and move for extended periods
- Comfortable working outdoors in a fast-paced environment
- Availability for evenings and weekends
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus but not required
