25-26 Thurston Co Food Bank Food Distribution Team Member

This is an AmeriCorps/Washington Service Corps national service position. It is contingent on funding and open until filled. Thurston County Food Bank has been feeding our community for over 50 years. We continue to evolve and expand our partnerships and services. We currently serve over 71,000 customers. Over 45% of our customers are under the age of 18. We focus on working collaboratively to reduce barriers to healthy food for underserved members of our community. The members will support all aspects of operations. There are two positions available. One will focus on our regional distribution center. The other will focus on direct food distribution to families. They will serve alongside staff who are focused on creating a safe, clean shopping environment for clients. They will focus on procuring food, repackaging and processing orders, and supporting all aspects of receiving and delivering food to those we partner with. The member serving in direct food distribution will also receive training in client intake and have the chance to learn more about hunger and how to address it through an equity lens. Member Duties : The Food Distribution Team Member will collaborate with Thurston County Food Bank staff, volunteers, and community partners to support our neighbors helping neighbors approach to eliminating hunger. They will provide services such as shopping assistance for clients with mobility issues, parking lot attendance, and helping clients loading their food into their vehicles; sort, restock, and organize inventory; support multiple aspects of our seasonal Saturday Farm Stand program; assist in the general set up and clean up for services as well as light facility maintenance to keep customer facing spaces clean, organized, and welcoming.
