The Comfort Inn, Verona NY is looking for a Housekeeper to join their team - Full Time and Part Time is available. Position Summary:

The Housekeeping Room Attendant is responsible for maintaining clean and attractive guestrooms and common areas in accordance with hotel standards. This includes cleaning rooms, making beds, replenishing linens and guest supplies, and ensuring guest satisfaction through attention to detail and prompt service.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Clean and service assigned guestrooms and bathrooms according to hotel standards and procedures
  • Make beds, change linens, dust furniture, vacuum floors, and remove trash
  • Replace guest amenities and supplies in rooms (e.g., soap, towels, toilet paper, coffee, etc.)
  • Report maintenance issues or safety hazards to management immediately
  • Ensure cart, equipment, and storage areas are clean and well-stocked
  • Respond promptly and courteously to guest requests
  • Follow proper procedures for lost and found items
  • Adhere to safety and security procedures and policies at all times
  • Expected to report to work on time and be prepared to begin duties as scheduled

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Previous housekeeping or cleaning experience in hospitality or healthcare preferred
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal/written instructions
  • Must be dependable and detail-oriented

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent walking, standing, bending, stooping, lifting, and reaching
  • Must be able to lift, push, or pull up to 30–50 pounds occasionally
  • Ability to work on feet for up to 8 hours per shift
  • Must be able to use cleaning equipment such as vacuums, mops, carts, etc.
  • Frequent repetitive motion (e.g., scrubbing, bed making)
  • Must be able to work with cleaning chemicals in a safe and responsible manner

Productivity Standards (Industry Standard):

  • Occupied Rooms (Stayover or Checkout):
    Expected to clean 15–18 rooms per 8-hour shift depending on room type and brand standard.
    Industry standard target: 25–30 minutes per occupied room (POR)
  • Stayover Rooms:
    Typically requires 15–20 minutes per room depending on guest condition.
  • Checkout Rooms:
    Typically requires 30–35 minutes per room depending on inspection standards and room condition.
  • Public/Common Areas:
    Time allocations will vary and are expected to be completed per daily assignment.

Productivity expectations may be adjusted based on occupancy levels, room condition, and safety considerations.

Break and Meal Periods:

Employees are entitled to meal breaks in accordance with New York State Labor Law. A 30-minute unpaid meal period will be provided during shifts over six hours that extend through the midday meal period (11 a.m. to 2 p.m.). A second break may be required for shifts of 10 hours or more. Scheduling of breaks will be coordinated by the supervisor based on operational needs.

Safe Workload Conditions:

This position requires physical stamina and the ability to complete daily room assignments safely. Management will assess workload expectations regularly to ensure that assigned tasks can be completed safely, without undue strain, in compliance with OSHA and New York State labor guidelines.
