The Budd group is hiring for a Prestigious Girls School. The school is a premier independent boarding and day school for girls located on a historic and beautiful campus in Chatham, Virginia. We are dedicated to providing an exceptional educational environment, and our pristine grounds are a vital part of the student and faculty experience. We are currently seeking a dedicated and hardworking Landscape Crew Member to join our dedicated grounds team.
Job Summary:
The Landscape Crew Member plays a crucial role in maintaining the beauty, safety, and overall appearance of our school's campus. This position is responsible for a wide range of general groundskeeping tasks, ensuring our campus remains a welcoming and impressive environment for students, staff, and visitors. This is a full-time position with a consistent weekday schedule and a fantastic team environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform general grounds maintenance duties to the highest standard.
Operate mowers for routine grass cutting across campus lawns and athletic fields.
Utilize string trimmers (weed eaters) and edgers to maintain clean and sharp lines along walkways, curbs, and planting beds.
Apply mulch to garden beds and around trees as needed for aesthetics and plant health.
Perform seasonal pruning of shrubs and small trees to maintain shape and vitality.
Assist with the planting of new flowers, shrubs, and trees according to landscape plans.
Contribute to seasonal clean-up efforts, including leaf and debris removal.
Perform other grounds-related duties as assigned by the Grounds Supervisor.
Qualifications:
Previous experience in landscaping, groundskeeping, or a related field is preferred but not required.
Ability to perform physically demanding tasks in various weather conditions, including lifting up to 50 lbs, bending, and standing for extended periods.
A strong work ethic and a reliable attendance record.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
A commitment to safety protocols and the proper use of equipment.
Must be able to pass a background check.
Work Schedule:
Standard Hours: Monday Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM.
Flexibility: Hours may vary slightly based on seasonal needs. Some weekend work will be required to support school events and special projects.
Compensation & Benefits:
Competitive Pay: $14.25 per hour.
