Assumption Catholic Church Prep Cook Reports to: Events Services Manager Part-Time Position FLSA: Hourly Non-Exempt General Summary: This is a part-time position supporting the Events Services Manager. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Daily inventory of items in stock to ensure we have proper ingredients to prepare weekly lunch
  • Daily preparation of lunch entrees alongside the chef.
  • Daily preparation of side dishes and a la carte items.
  • Updating temperature log of refrigeration and heating equipment.
  • Serve on buffet line when necessary
  • Help on the register when necessary
  • Work with manager and chef to establish lunch menus monthly
  • Help with daily cleaning. May be required to sweep and mop.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required
  • Serv Safe food handler certificate preferred.
  • Two years of experience in the food service industry or like experience.
  • Maintain a high level of attention to detail, time management, and efficiency.
  • Good communication skills including verbal, written, and listening.
  • Consistently demonstrate a positive, friendly, respectful and caring attitude with colleagues and the public.
  • Project a welcoming atmosphere for all who visit.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work, be proactive, take initiative, resolve problems, and follow through.
  • Must be able to lift up to 40lbs.
  • Honors, respects, and cares for all people; displays cultural diversity awareness and sensitivity.
  • Must maintain a valid drivers license.
  • Must successfully pass the required history screening check prior to employment and every five years.
LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, vendors, employees, and the public. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. REASONING ABILITY Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
