Summary:

The Facilities Operations Technician is responsible for the daily maintenance and operations of metal chip processing, recycling, and fluid management systems. The role also supports general facility upkeep and assists in the performance of minor mechanical, electrical, and preventative maintenance tasks. This role plays a key part in supporting continuous improvement and safe facility operations.

Essential Functions:

  • Operate and maintain chip processing systems: collect, identify, drain, weigh, and stage metal chips for recycling
  • Maintain coolant recycling, waste evaporation, and fluid management systems
  • Organize and maintain chip processing, oil room, and waste fluid areas
  • Provide coolant and machine lubricants to the shop floor
  • Conduct regular inspections of chip equipment and fluid systems
  • Perform routine cleaning and upkeep of shop floors, including operation of auto floor scrubbers
  • Support monthly inspections (e.g., ladders, tanks, overhead cranes, forklifts)
  • Perform minor mechanical and electrical repairs (e.g., replace fuses, light fixtures, use of multimeters)
  • Operate forklifts, man lifts, and other shop equipment safely
  • Assist in Rapid Improvement Events, TPM activities, and minor fabrication tasks (e.g., cutting or destroying non-conforming parts)
  • Support general facility and environmental maintenance (dust collectors, spill kits, basic plumbing, carpentry, etc)
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • Must be a “U.S. Person” as defined by the U.S. Government and able to work without restrictions with ITAR related data
  • High School Degree or G.E.D
  • 2+ years of experience in facility or machine maintenance, preferably in Manufacturing

Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Must be able to read, write, understand, and speak English at a functional level
  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with all levels of the organization
  • Ability to interpret policies, procedures, and standard business practices
  • Basic knowledge of mechanical systems, electrical safety, and industrial fields
  • Working knowledge of Lockout/Tagout, Hazard Communication, and general OSHA safety requirements
  • Capable of using measuring and diagnostic tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, multimeters)
  • Familiarity with metal chip recycling, fluid systems, or similar industrial processes strongly preferred
  • Ability to travel domestically – 10%

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift, push, and/or pull up to 35lbs
  • Must be able to sit and stand for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to go up and down stairs frequently
