Qualifications

About the Role: Food Services: Kitchen Staff

Prepares and cooks family-style meals for residents of designated facilities. Assist in ensuring the nutritional and dietary requirements of facility residents are met. Follow rules and regulations to ensure health and safety protocol in food service practices

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assists the cook in preparing food and cooking according to menus, special dietary or nutritional restrictions, or the number of portions to be served. Clean, cut, and cook meat, fish, or poultry; bake bread, rolls, and other pastries; wash and prepare fruits and vegetables, etc.
  • Portion and serve food to facility residents, employees, or patrons.
  • Wash dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and other cooking equipment thoroughly.
  • Inspect, clean, and maintain work areas, kitchen, and equipment to ensure cleanliness, safety, and functional operations. Report safety issues to the Kitchen Manager immediately.
  • Ensure proper food storage according to health department regulations; examine food to ensure quality and quantity meet established standards and specifications.
  • Transport food to applicable sites as required.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED is preferred
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred
  • A valid driver's License that meets agency insurability requirements.

Experience:

  • 1 year of experience working in the same/similar capacity; experience cooking in nursing homes, hospitals, school cafeterias, and/or similar institutions preferred.

Additional Eligibility Requirements:

  • Annual Flu Vaccinations
  • Annual TB Testing
