Job Description

QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent. Physical conditions allow the lifting of heavy loads, including lifting of tables and chairs, moving of furniture, etc.. Such additional qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.

REPORTS TO: Building Principal, School Director

SUPERVISES: Not Applicable

JOB GOAL: To provide student with a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean and efficient place in which to learn, play and develop.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Sweep all rooms at least once daily.

Collect waste paper at least once daily.

Sweep halls as often as necessary.

Dust furniture as often as necessary.

Clean blackboards at least once a week.

Keep paper cleaned from under radiators.

Keep restrooms in a neat and orderly condition at all times.

Check restrooms and flush all commodes that need it after school takes up in the morning, after recess, after lunch and after school.

Scrub restroom floors at least once a week.

Scrub commodes with brush twice weekly.

Commodes and urinals shall be hosed and disinfectant as often as once a week.

Wash all windows on the inside and outside before school starts in the fall and during spring break.

All fountains including base should be scrubbed and kept clean al all times.

Monitor the temperature in the building at different times during the day.

Custodians will be expected to make minor repairs, such as setting glass, repairing locks, desks, seats and chairs.

Help teachers in arranging his / her room, as he / she wants it.

Custodians are expected to be on duty during the entire day and will be responsible for the care of all school property. Any damage should be reported to the principal.

Responsible for the care of the building during night activities.

Keep grounds clear of all paper and other objects.

Other duties as assigned by the Building Principal or Superintendent.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary, benefits and work year to be established by Board approved schedule.

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Boards policy on evaluation of classified personnel. Preschool will be evaluated annually.
