Hours: 3:30 PM - 12:00 AM
Salary: $23.15
Required:
- Four years of custodial experience.
- Two years of leadership experience.
- Certified Pool Operations license in buildings with swimming pool or ability to obtain the license within 120 days of job assignments.

- Must have ten (10) days or fewer of family/personal sick leave.

- Discipline: no formal discipline during the past 12 months from the posting date for all employees.
- Seniority: if two or more employees have relatively equal qualifications, the employee with the greater seniority within the department or classification (depending on the position) will be given first consideration. Exceptions regarding department or classification seniority will be considered by the Director of Personnel.

TITLE: Operations Engineer, 1st Assistant Class 8 (Custodian)

HIRING SPECIFICATIONS:
Required:
- Four years of custodial experience.
- Two years of leadership experience.
- Certified Pool Operations license in buildings with swimming pool or ability to obtain the license within 120 days of job assignments.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Working knowledge and proficiency in the use of a computer and Microsoft Office tools.
- Practical working knowledge of good housekeeping practices and procedures.
- Ability to present a professional appearance and demeanor.
- Ability to demonstrate good judgment and promote spirit of cooperation with others.
BASIC FUNCTION: Serve as assistant to chief in assigned facilities. Responsibilities may include coordinating staff schedule, maintaining inventories and supplies, conducting basic building safety inspections, providing basic maintenance and repair to equipment and building facilities; and performing duties of lower level staff. This position requires continuous use of independent judgment. The essential functions as shown below represent only the key areas of responsibility; specific position requirements will vary depending on the needs of the operations department.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assume responsibility of Operations Engineer Chief during the Chief’s absence.
- Assist Operations Engineer Chief or Custodial Specialist in maintaining the facility and/or facilities.
- Provide direction and supervision to custodial staff assigned to building or facility.
- Respond promptly to the needs of building administrator for night and day activities in the facility.
- Assist the director of custodial services and custodial specialists in the annual performance evaluation of subordinate employees.
- Perform all cleaning tasks required to maintain the facility.
- Communicate with operations staff to ensure facility is properly heated, ventilated and maintained during night or day activities.
- Provide leadership to ensure facility is secured each night to prevent lost of or damage to property, or failure of mechanical equipment.
- Carry out all policies and procedures as set forth for building personnel in operations.

- Maintain satisfactory and harmonious working relationships with the public, students, and other employees.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Constant standing and walking. Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling. Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs and carrying up to 10 ft.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Frequent inside, outisde, and exposure to extremes of temperature/humidity
