Job Details Job Role : General Support - Dough Bench, Sandwich Station, Prep, some Front of House
Compensation & Perks: $15/hr + tips, PTO, Meal Stipend, Monthly Pay Stipend, 30 Minute Breaks
Job Summary : We are seeking an energetic and reliable individual with relevant Back of House experience and great attention to detail to support w/ mixing and shaping bagels, holding down our sandwich station, and general prep. Full time position w/ 4x 9 hour shifts a week, Thursday through Sunday. This position will help w/ sandwich making, station prep and maintenance, bagel/bialy dough and treat making, prepping our recipes, and communicating and collaborating across teams.
Position Type : Full Time, ~36 hours/week, Thursday - Sunday 8:00-5:00
Sandwich Station Responsibilities Include
- Manage multiple tickets/orders at once, ensuring sandwiches are built correctly and to our standards and that they are handled neatly and in a timely fashion.
- General Prep: Assist in food preparation tasks, including chopping, slicing, weighing and portioning ingredients, light stovetop and oven work, and more.
- Recipes: Follow recipes to prepare several of our signature offerings.
- Cleaning and Sanitizing: Maintain a clean and organized back-of-house area, including work surfaces, equipment, and storage areas.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with kitchen staff to support a smooth and efficient operation. This includes communicating well with all members of staff and management, and being able to respond to the needs of the business quickly and collaboratively.
- Adherence to Health and Safety Standards: Follow all food safety and hygiene regulations to ensure a safe working environment.
- Opening: Show up ready to work and get sandwich station set up in a thoughtful and timely manner. Take stock of the station and contribute to prep list as needed.
- Closing: Hit reset on the station and get tools and dishware to our dishwasher in a timely fashion. Wipe down all surfaces, handles, etc., sweep/vacuum area as needed, run a prep/inventory list, backstock maintenance, etc.
- Other Duties as Assigned: Pitch in with other kitchen tasks as needed - dough work, dishes, detailed cleaning, etc.
Baker/Bench Support Responsibilities Include:
- Following recipes and properly measuring/weighing our dough builds
- Mixing dough w/ an eye on time and mixer settings, w/ an understanding of other variables (environmental or otherwise) that impact our dough builds
- Hand shaping bagels and bialys according to our methods
- Mixing cookie and other 'pastry' doughs (not laminated)
- Multi tasking and being able to maintain the timeline w/ the product and your teammates in mind
- Excellent communication w/ all members of the team and management
- Able to lift 50 lbs
- Properly rotate and manage our inventory
- Additional preparation: Assist in a multitude of food preparation tasks including: chopping, slicing, portioning ingredients, whipping cream cheese, other processing, and more.
Qualifications :
- Previous experience in a similar back-of-house roles is preferred but not 100% necessary.
- The shop is pescatarian. This means we do not process meat but we do process fish. This currently includes whole smoked whitefish, cold smoked salmon (lox), and tinned sardines. Candidates must be comfortable with preparing *all* sandwich components.
- Seeking a candidate with excellent time management skills.
- An ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Full Time availability is a requirement.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift heavy items as needed.
