Under general direction, performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled tasks in the maintenance, janitorial, and care of sports complex. Work varies, requiring interpretative judgment within prescribed standards and procedures.Operate various types of maintenance and custodial equipment to keep SportsPlex clean and orderly; perform manual labor in the maintenance, janitorial, and repair of complex; s weep, scrub, vacuum, and spot clean floors; wash, and dust counter tops, furniture, windows/glass, window sills, blinds, baseboards, woodwork, and light fixtures; empty and clean waste receptacles; assist in moving and arranging furniture and equipment; replace light bulbs and fixtures; maintain, repair, unclog, replace plumbing fixtures and drains; maintain material and equipment inventory; purchase, replenish and distribute supplies as needed; service and maintain equipment used in the maintenance and custodial care of turf and interior surfaces including polished concrete, wood athletic flooring, polyurethane flooring, terrazzo, carpet, tile and rubber athletic flooring; maintain exterior entrances and sidewalks for extensive winter snow and ice removal; provide preventative maintenance and routine repair throughout facility including boilers, air conditioning, roof top heating, and air-handling units, electrical systems, scoreboards, pumps, valves, electric motors, and garage door openers; assist with coordinating maintenance and custodial needs with SportsPlex staff and facility user groups to prepare the facility prior to and during special events; maintain effective working relations with facility users; and work nights and weekends when required; perform overtime as required and other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISION - RESPONSIBILITY FOR WORK OF OTHERS :
Assist with the supervision of seasonal workers in field work as assigned.

Apply and maintain knowledge of the current methods, equipment, materials and tools used to perform maintenance and custodial tasks. (Daily)

Maintain accurate and appropriate inventory of parts, supplies, tools and equipment. (Daily)

Ability to organize and maintain accurate records. (Daily)

PHYSICAL DEMANDS OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS :

Work Type: Heavy, exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects

Hazards: Frequent exposure to chemicals, equipment, sharp objects and height

MENTAL REQUIREMENTS OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS :

Ability to read and comprehend technically-written material.

Ability to listen and apply information and instructions.

Ability to understand mathematical concepts to include basic arithmetic.

Ability to organize and prioritize tasks.

Ability to maintain accurate records. MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS :
High school diploma/GED with two years of experience in custodial or building maintenance work. Prior sport facility maintenance preferred with basic computer skills. Must obtain First Aid / CPR certification within first six months of employment. Possession of valid Nebraska drivers license is required.

RESIDENCY REQUIREMENTS :
None. MACHINES, TOOLS, EQUIPMENT AND WORK AIDS USED :
Vacuum, scrubber, broom, mop, hand and carpentry tools; hand and power tools, two-way radios, sprayers, small-utility vehicles, lifts, groomers, and sweepers.
