The community youll be caring for:

  • Winter Park Memorial Hospital has continuously served the residents of Winter Park and its surrounding communities for more than 50 years

  • Chartered in 1951, the hospital has grown from the visionary efforts of a handful of Winter Park residents and community leaders, to a 307-bed acute care facility that is a model of community health and wellness

  • Over the years the hospital has continually expanded to meet the needs of the community, adding an upscale obstetrics and Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at The Dr. P. Phillips Baby Place, cancer care at the AdventHealth Cancer Institute, Winter Park, and state-of-the-art surgery, recovery and rehabilitation at the AdventHealth Orthopaedic Institute

The role youll contribute:

Actively participates in an outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all. Under the direction of the Managing chef, responsible for preparation of all foods and related items for cafeteria and\or catering customers and\ or food for patients. Ensures that all food production is produced according to recipe specifications and proper procedures. Ensures that all products meet standards for quality, taste, appearance and freshness. Records product temperatures and monitors holding times as appropriate. Meets all production deadlines. Demonstrates cost conscious behaviors in all aspects. Adheres to all sanitation, safety, cleanliness and food storage standards. Assists with serving customers and provides world-class customer service.

Achieves daily production schedules and meets all deadlines and commitments.

  • Ensures that all cold and hot food products are stored and produced according to recipe specifications and proper procedures.

  • Adheres to all sanitation, cleanliness, and safety standards; monitors and records food and/or equipment temperatures.

  • Continually checks food for quality, taste, appearance and freshness. Takes corrective action when needed.

  • Minimizes food waste by preparing the amount needed, without running out; ensures proper portioning.

  • Is proactive to prepare substitutions for foods that may run out; effectively and proactively communicates those shortages and substitutions to the appropriate people

  • Performs other duties as assigned or directed to ensure a smooth operation of the department.

Qualifications

The expertise and experiences you'll need to succeed:

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE STRONGLY PREFERRED:

  • Able to communicate in English well to effectively communicate and interact with internal and external customers
  • Ability to follow, read and write recipes as needed.

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS :

  • Bilingual in Spanish, Microsoft Office Suite

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED :

  • None

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :

  • Food Service line cook or lead cook experience
  • High School diploma or equivalent

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED :

PREFERRED LICENSURE OR REGISTRATION :

  • Serv Safe or equivalent
