Job Description:

This is a lead worker position responsible for overseeing delivery and execution of catering events.

The role involves:

  • Operating a wide variety of equipment used in preparation, delivery and/or service of both hot and cold foods.
  • Organizing and directing a team to meet standards and deadlines efficiently.
  • Ensuring adherence to food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Providing excellent customer service by maintaining a professional, friendly and service oriented demeanor.

This position requires strong leadership, organizational skills, and the ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Operates the POS system and complies with cash handling policies
  • Maintains work areas and stocks products
  • Gathers items, delivers, sets up, tears down, and cleans up for various catering events
  • Completes catering event records
  • Maintains cleanliness of workplace and service areas
  • Operates blenders, coffee brewers, ovens and other small equipment
  • Puts away food and supplies
  • Completes daily, weekly and monthly cleaning as assigned
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Multi tasks-being able to take on and handle numerous tasks at one time.
  • Working ahead of schedule-if time allows, to prepare for the following shift or next day in order to save additional time
  • Time management-being able to stay on task and manage time wisely
  • Job commitment and dedication-being committed to the job and exhibiting dedication while working shifts, ensuring to complete all tasks on time and going above and
    beyond.
  • Willing to learn and receive proper training- exhibiting a willingness to learn and receive proper training, being eager to learn new tasks, techniques and what else the job may
    require.
  • Practicing proper hygiene and sanitary practices-ensuring to wash hands and using proper sanitary practices while handling food.

Functions as a lead worker:

  • Handles customer service issues in the absence of a manager
  • Orients employees to a job area
  • Trains employees in tasks
  • Assigns and reassigns tasks throughout the shift

Supervision:

  • Incumbents may serve as lead workers (assign, direct work) of University staff but are not PERLA supervisors. Incumbents may supervise student employees.

Required Qualifications:

  • Able to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally
  • High school graduate or GED
  • Ability to accurately perform simple mathematical calculations
  • Reads, writes, understands and communicates in English
  • Must be able to stand up for 4 hours at a time
  • Must have valid drivers license
  • Must be able to work a varied schedule based on events
