Pay: $20.82 per hour
Work schedule: Full-time, Monday - Friday

Work with a purpose! Management & Training Corporation (MTC) operates the Otero County Prison in Chaparral, New Mexico. We provide a safe and secure working environment for our staff while helping those in our custody prepare for success upon release.
What you'll do: You'll perform duties involving general maintenance and repairs on equipment and buildings, assisting with technical trades such as plumbing, electrical, painting and carpentry in compliance MTC and various directives.
Essential Functions:
Performs maintenance and repair of structures, electrical systems, heating, plumbing, ventilating, and air conditioning and drainage systems. Recommended contacted assistance when on-sight repair is not possible.
Repair or replace faulty or damaged light fixtures, outlets and fuses as directed.
Perform minor construction and repair of structural woodwork.
Install security locks, cameras, etc.
Perform repair or replacement of plumbing fixtures, seals, etc.
Help prepare surfaces for finishing, i.e., painting, as directed.
Perform preventative maintenance checks of buildings and equipment.
Perform routinely scheduled checks of air conditioning systems.
Provide on-call support in emergency situations when equipment malfunctions.
Providing cleaning, transportation, moving of equipment as needed.
Coordinate the work of inmates assigned to assist the maintenance department.
Monitor tool inventory.
Promote the development of positive social skills through modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed.
Maintain accountability of staff, students and property; adhere to safety practices.
It is expected the incumbent will perform other duties as assigned within his/her scope of work as determined by management.
Education and Experience Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Must also possess technical training (on the job and/or hands on training) and general knowledge of repair and/or maintenance. Three (3) years of related experience is also required.
Valid driver's license in the State of New Mexico or the State of Texas with an acceptable driving record, unless waived by management.
