Environmental Services Technician -Groundskeeper

Position Summary:

The Groundskeeper is responsible for the upkeep, safety, and appearance of the facility's outdoor spaces and assists with interior environmental services tasks as needed. This

includes routine landscaping, snow and litter removal, outdoor equipment maintenance, and contributing to the cleanliness of indoor communal areas. This position ensures a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for youth, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities:

Grounds Maintenance & Landscaping

• Perform regular lawn care: mowing, edging, trimming, watering, and weeding.
• Maintain flower beds, trees, shrubs, and apply mulch and fertilizers as needed.

Snow & Ice Management

• Clear snow and ice from walkways, entrances, and emergency exits.
• Apply de-icing materials to prevent hazards.

Trash & Litter Control

• Conduct regular outdoor litter pickup and empty exterior trash bins.
• Maintain cleanliness of exterior spaces, walkways, and recreational areas.

Outdoor Equipment Inspection & Upkeep

• Inspect and perform routine maintenance on outdoor furniture and recreation equipment.
• Report damages or safety concerns to the Site Manager.

Environmental Services (Indoor Support)

• Assist with light indoor cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, and trash collection in shared spaces.
• Support daily sanitation of high-traffic areas and restrooms as needed.
• Coordinate with the facilities team to respond to special cleaning projects or needs.

General Support

• Assist with event setup/teardown and seasonal projects (e.g., gutter cleaning, leaf raking, painting).
• Collaborate with maintenance and facilities staff to complete assigned tasks efficiently.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 1+ years of groundskeeping, custodial, or maintenance experience preferred.
• Ability to safely operate landscaping and snow removal equipment.
• Basic mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical labor in various weather conditions.
• Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work independently.
